From comicbookresources.com: IDW and 20th Century Fox Consumer products will be collaborating on a project to bring the science fiction series The X-Files back to comics. This is not the first time The X-Files franchise has been in comics. Their plan is twofold. First, they will reprint comic book collections of classic X- Files issues that were published between 1995 to 2009. Second, they will also be creating brand new X-Files comics which will be launched June, 2013. There was a successful comic book series of the show created by Topps and Wildstorm and there was a joint crossover between Wildstorm and IDW – 30 Days of Night/The X-Files. So collaborations and crossovers are nothing new for the franchise. For fans of the show and all its attendant novelizations and comic books this is exciting news. From IDW’s president, Greg Goldstein: “The possibilities for new comic stories are virtually unlimited!” And Jeffrey Godsick, President of Fox Consumer Products has this to say: “IDW has worked with a number of our Fox properties and we know they’re going to do great things with these iconic characters.”
With the long running iconic sci-fi series and two films there’s a lot of great source story material to explore. The new comic book series that is coming this summer will be picking up where the second X- Files film, I Want To Believe, left off.
Yeaaaah! Never tire of the X Files. Not too long ago I tried to join the Order of the Blessed Saint Scully the Enigmatic but they weren’t accepting new recruits. The comic books will fill some of the void. 🙂
I have to say, I miss The X-Files myself. 🙂
I lost that magic feeling for the program when Carter killed “The Lone Gunmen”…
Oh this may actually be the comic, that gets me into comics again!
