Will There Be Another Iron Man Movie?

Gwyneth Paltrow doesn’t think so. The actress was recently quoted by Geek Nation as saying “I think we’re done with Iron Man.” Back in the fall of 2012, she made the comment that she was “getting old for this sh*t” when asked about a possible reprisal in the next Avengers movie, but does that mean she’s tired of playing Pepper Potts, or was it a hint of the end of a franchise? Iron Man is definitely too big of a cash cow for Disney/Marvel to let out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe altogether, that’s for sure. Director Shane Black hinted that RDJ is in negotiations for two more Iron Man films, but neither Robert Downey Jr. nor Paltrow are confirmed to do any more Marvel movies at the moment, according to Geek Nation. Both actors’ involvement in future installments of Tony Stark’s (mis)adventures outside of the Avengers team may depend entirely on the success of Iron Man 3, due out in US theaters on May 3rd.

If Paltrow does indeed retire from the Iron Man franchise, what could this mean for the future of Tony Stark in the expanding MCU? Pepper Potts is one of the most integral characters in recent Iron Man comics, so to just cut her out of the films entirely is almost inconceivable. If RDJ continues with the role without his counterpart, perhaps Disney/Marvel will take a different approach to including Pepper. In Kieron Gillen’s current run on Iron Man in the Marvel NOW! universe, the AI of Tony’s new suit is codenamed P.E.P.P.E.R. and is basically all of the actual Pepper’s sass and snark. That could be a viable option to still have the character present without Paltrow needing to sacrifice more than a few hours in a recording booth.

How many of you want to see Pepper come back for another Marvel movie, even if it’s just a cameo like in Avengers?
