If there was any doubt as to the amount of anticipation for Iron Man 3, this past weekend’s box office receipts squash it all. Even though the film doesn’t open in the US until May 3, it opened to nearly $200 million in the foreign markets in just three days. For those of you keeping score, that’s $10 million more than The Avengers made in its opening weekend overseas. Spoilers are already abounding on the Internet, so if you want to be kept in the dark until you can see it for yourself, do your best to avoid social media sites like Tumblr (especially Tumblr) and Facebook. We’ll see how Iron Man 3 stacks up against the Avengers’ final opening weekend take sometime next week after the money’s been counted and ticket sales are tallied. Be sure to get your tickets early!
