Following in the footsteps of the Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn webseries, a brand new live-action TV series based on the Halo game series is currently in the works. The announcement was made at the launch of Microsoft’s new console, the Xbox One, along with word that Steven Spielberg is attached to produce. Fans have been enduring rumors of and failed plans for a live-action film for years, including rumors of either Peter Jackson or Guillermo del Toro directing, but nothing ever came to fruition until the production of 343 Industries’ Forward Unto Dawn, which debuted on YouTube in five parts and cost slightly less than $10 million to make.
This latest development will hopefully ease fans’ minds about the future of the Halo franchise, along with bringing in new fans as Forward Unto Dawn did last year. As Ars Technica reported, there is no word on how or if this new series will fit into the FUD or even the game series’ timeline, but Master Chief did appear briefly in what little footage was shown the Xbox One’s reveal.
