"To Ancient Greece and Back Again": An Interview with "Sons of Zeus" Author – Noble Smith

For the past year, I have had the pleasure of corresponding via Twitter with the award winning writer, Noble Smith.

Noble is a playwright, producer, video game writer, and the author of The Wisdom of the Shire: A Short Guide to a Long and Happy Life, which will become translated into a ninth language!

As a fan and fellow “Hobbit”, I was thrilled when Noble sent me an advanced reading of his newest book, Sons of Zeus! From the publisher:

“Sons of Zeus is an action-adventure set during the “Pearl Harbor” of ancient Greece—the sneak attack on the democratic city-state of Plataea in 431 BC that ignited the thirty-year-long war between Athens and Sparta. Nikias, a young Olympic-fighter-in-training, must use all of his skills learned in the arena to save his family, city and the woman he loves from genocidal invaders.”

I was able to talk to Noble about the book, his research, and insight into ancient Greek culture. The following is an interview.

Sons of Zeus is an intense story filled with intrigue, shocking cultural interactions, and descriptive pankration battles, wrapped in historical events from ancient times. Using the significant historical events from the conflict between Athens and Sparta, Noble Smith creates an atmosphere of a realistic “Game of Thrones meets Spartacus”. I loved the character growth of the main character Nikias and his noble grandfather, Menesarkus. Of course, the power of the pankration battles added to the action and brutality! Sons of Zeus was a gratifying read!

Thank you Noble!
