The Return of Return of the Jedi

return-of-the-jedi-movie-poster-1983-3721265Kyle Newman, a die-hard Star Wars fan created a short film dedicated to the goodness that is Return of the Jedi, all in celebration of the film’s 30th anniversary in May. I myself, personally, loved this one even more than the previous two back when I was a kid. Return of the Jedi was my favorite Star Wars film because of the pathos between Luke, his father and the Emperor. I had no clue what pathos was but I felt the emotionality of that core story thread and experienced the joy of a satisfying resolution to George Lucas’s epic story.

The sword fight near the end of the film with the chorus music? It still remains one of my favorite scenes in the history of film! Newman gathers together a host of notable people who love the film; actors, directors, writers such as Kevin Smith, Seth Green, Sam Witwer, Jaime King, Topher Grace and Chris Hardwick to talk about what Return of the Jedi meant to them. For those wanting to wax nostalgic on the third film of the original series check it out if you haven’t already. It’s great fun to watch and it just may make you break out the dvds – or the laser discs!

I have to say, I kind of miss the Yub Nub song at the end of the *original* version of the film.
