From professional “heat racer”, Jonathan Rice, comes the “Darth Valley Challenge”.
Dressed as the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader, Rice ran a mile in the extreme heat of Death Valley. Braving the 129 degree weather, Rice ran the mile in 6 minutes and 36 seconds, all while wearing his costume. Rice now waits for word from Guinness World Record for an official ruling if his run beats the record.
“Some people collect porcelain kittens. I run in the heat. I do it partly because I love the look on people’s faces as they pass by in their air-conditioned cars – the bewilderment, the innocent, wide-eyed expression of pure disbelief. It’s great.”
Rice was joined in his “Star Wars adventure” from his driver who dressed as Chewbacca for the stunt. Other supporter’s costumes included Princess Leia, Yoda, Jango Fett and more!
“This is a ludicrously dangerous endeavor. I don’t support you doing it. I don’t even really support me doing it,” said Rice of his run.
