"Head-First", or "How to Unleash Your Inner Daenerys"

Any show or tale worth its salt would have sooner or later made its impact on fashion. And this humble author has tried and tested a great deal of the trends sparked off by the latest movies. Medieval-style belts after LotR? Princess Leia hair? Most recently – sparkly flapper dresses after the Gatsby mania (yes, it has hardly anything to do with sci-fi, but still) – I have tried it all. Whether you care for acting or not – fashion always offers a great way to let loose that part of yourself that desperately wants to be part of Middlearth. Or Westeros. Or that galaxy far, far away.

Now with the Game of Thrones mania sweeping the globe, it was only to be expected that fashion would inevitably follow. And what is the better way to start disguising yourself as a Westeros native, than to change your hairstyle!

The videos attached seem to cater mainly for long hair – one cannot help it, since it seems to be the fashion in Westeros. In case you have previously opted for a flapper-style bob, being lured by Gatsby sparkle, you can nevertheless always channel your inner ferocious warrior opting for the practicality of short hair.

Anyway, here are a few videos for some DIY and inspiration:

Hailing from the swirling mists of London, I am a freelance journalist in my free time, and a huge fan of JRR Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings,” as well as an admirer of the “Game of Thrones,” a worshipper of H P Lovecraft, a follower of R. Howard, a Star Wars aficionado and an Ursula Le Guin enthusiast. My other favourite things include Middle Eastern dance (sometimes somewhat discourteously referred to as “belly” dancing), Yoga, sunsets over the dreaming spires of Oxford and plush owls. Oh, and green tea too.
