Star Wars: Episode VII to Make $1.2 Billion?

That’s what early analysts are saying, at least. Dark Horizons and Variety both reported that this estimate comes on the heels of the massive loss from The Lone Ranger (in theaters now), estimated to be as high as $190 million. But Disney stocks actually went up by over 1%.

So what does this mean? Honestly, not a whole lot. At this early stage with Episode VII not even in production yet, it’s little more than posturing (much like Sony announcing release dates for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 & 4 despite the second film not even finished with shooting).

There’s no doubt (yet) that the next Star Wars film will make bookoo bucks at the box office; whether or not it will come close to the paycheck of James Cameron’s Avatar is still up in the air… at least until summer of 2015.
