During a question panel at the 2013 San Diego Comicon, Matt Smith made some interesting comments regarding his inevitable exit from the long running BBC program.
After being asked why he was leaving the famed role of Doctor Who;
“It’s hard to leave. It’s an awful thing to contemplate, it really is. It’s been the most incredible experience of my life.” Smith went on to add, “Things like this and Comic-Con, it’s changed my life … It’s really depressing. You’ve gotta go when you’ve gotta go … I don’t know … I don’t know! I’ve made a mistake!”
Smith’s last episode as the bow-tie wearing time lord, ends with the Christmas episode this winter. Moffat has said that the new “Doctor” will be announced soon. That said, it makes you wonder if Smith may have a change of heart? Could we see Matt Smith stay on as our favorite quirky Doctor? One can dream!
