Picture yourself an idyllic walk alongside the sea, hair streaming in gentle breeze, on a scorching July morning. Then, all of a sudden, a forty foot-long head eclipses the sea view: the head brandishing a formidable set of gnashers and a terrifying coxcomb crest.
“We are not in Kansas anymore, Toto?”
No, this is not the Desolation of Smaug – or Red Keep, for that matter. The explanation is far more prosaic – as Blinkbox, the veteran of UK streaming services, has called upon some serious design magic to advertise the release of the Game of Thrones season 3 series made available for streaming.
Undoubtedly, this is going to be a popular tourist attraction (is it a sudden yearning for a weekend by the sea that I feel?). Although perhaps mixing together dragons and dinosaurs is never a wise idea (the latter had a lot less panache, for starters), Blinkbox have chosen a stretch of the aptly-named “Jurassic Coast” near Dorset as home for its new, fanged installation masterpiece. Now, where did I put those flip-flops – a break under the summer sun is calling…
Admire the eerily enigmatic sculpture here.
By the time I get there, it might be gone…. Unless I swim. Across the not-so-narrow sea..
