Apparently, Hugh Jackman has been offered $100 million to reprise his claw wielding anti-hero Wolverine in four more movies.
The report comes from a source close to Jackman who isn’t sure that the 44 year old actor wants to play the role again.
“Hugh has a big decision to make. It’s not every day an actor gets offered this kind of paycheck, but Hugh vowed never to lock himself into any multi-picture deals after X-Men,”saying. “He hasn’t given any kind of answer yet, so at least he’s considering it.”
Since 2000, the Australian actor has reprized the character of Wolverine six times, with his next appearance happening next year in “X-Men: Days of Future Past”. Will this enormous payday entice the Golden Globe winner to don the adamantium blades four more times? With the success of the Wolverine movie worldwide, it should come as no surprise that the studio wants to secure their money maker and continue to squeeze out as many films as Jackman will agree to.
In a recent interview with Jackman he disclosed that his wife, actress Deborra-Lee Furness, had been “against him playing Wolverine from the very first X-Men movie”. Apparently, she would like him to concentrate on more “serious roles”.
“Hugh won’t make any decisions without her approval and their friends are betting she’ll have him stick to their one movie at a time rule.”
Maybe the $100 million will change her mind.
Check out Wolverine – in theaters.
