The vigilant folks over at Latino Review have a bunch of Star Wars related news for us this week!
First off, a source for the site has confirmed that partial shooting will take place in Las Cruces, New Mexico, along with Los Angeles and London. The deserts of New Mexico could definitely provide some gorgeous landscapes for Tatooine if Abrams decides to revisit Luke’s home world.
Next up, another little birdie told LR that Saoirse Ronan (who recently passed on the role of the Scarlet Witch for the Avengers sequel) went in to audition for a role. Which role? No one knows (yet). LR hinted that she may have gone in to read for an as yet unknown female villain, but did not provide any concrete evidence of this.
And lastly, although Benedict Cumberbatch and his people have consistently denied his involvement with the Star Wars franchise, LR is adamant that this is just a misinformation tactic like when Cumberbatch denied being Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness throughout that film’s production. Given how good many fans are at figuring out roles before any official announcement (remember when Marion Cotillard was cast in The Dark Knight Returns as Miranda Tate but fans knew she was actually Talia al Ghul, which wasn’t confirmed until the movie actually came out?), I wouldn’t be surprised if this denial is indeed designed to try to keep some big secret, well, secret. Good luck with that, guys.
