Greetings fellow fanatics of all things fantastical!
Exciting news on the Anime front, one of my favorite supernatural Animes; Ghost Hunt (also a light novel series, and a manga, but I first knew the Anime, then I found the manga, different spin for me) is being turned into a live action film. This announcement game via Twins Japan and Kadokawa. The film will be directed by Yoshitaka Yamaguchi, and scripts by Atsuyuki Shinmoda and Shotaro Oikawa. Shinichiro Inoue (who I know from The Girl Who Leapt through Time) is the executive producer and Adrian Chaw has the co-executive producer chair.
But I know you’re all interested in who is acting in this film! Ghost Hunt will be staring, thus far, Maya Fukuzawa as the lead female protagonist, Mai Taniyama.
Mizuki Tamamoto (from the new Black Butler live action movie) as Masako Hara — that’s actually perfect casting by the way.
And Yosuke Kawamura will play the hilarious Hosho Takigawa, so I am really interested to see how that turns out.
Ghost Hunt follows the adventures of the ghost-hunting group of psychics and spiritualists in Japan. In the original light novels they called themselves the Shibuya Psychic Research Center.
I highly enjoyed the Anime and the Manga. Having gone through a stage of loving crimes shows, this story fits in well with that type of feeling, only with a supernatural twist. It carries itself well for the most part, and I would recommend it for an Anime-fan.
So I am looking forward to seeing what a live action version can do to this story and the characters.
The film is due to be completed in spring 2014 and is heading for a summer release in Japan.

Kylie was raised on a healthy upbringing of old classic science fiction thanks to her Dad. Though being unable to spell or write, she was confident that with imagination by her side, someday she would be a writer! Which she is now, writing fantasy and science fiction while illustrating on the side. Her first novel, Key, in the series Chronicles of the Children, involves little green aliens which she has a particular fondness off.
She has an unquenchable love of Anime/Manga and can’t stop buying books after this one particular novel called Fellowship of the Ring changed her life.
