There is “rumor buzz” around the internet regarding the BBC series, Sherlock. According to Classicalite, Director Mark Gatiss is said to have had a conversation with Tom Hiddleston. Rumour has it that Tom Hiddleston would replace Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock. The speculation is due to the hectic schedules of Cumberbatch and Freeman.
“Tom would be wonderful in Sherlock, I’m sure, but he only does movies now. What can I say? I’ll ask him if you like,” said Gatiss,“Well it’s an internet rumor so it must be true. We might as well just wait and see what happens…”
What do you think? If Cumberbatch was to leave, would you approve of Hiddleston taking over? In my opinion I would like to wait to get a Sherlock season with Benedict Cumberbatch. I don’t like the idea of Cumberbatch being replaced. Tom Hiddleston would be a better replacement to play Moriaty.
Of course…this is just a rumour.

I won’t watch anymore if Cumberbatch is replaced. He and Freeman are the reason I watch. I, too, would rather wait and get them than have someone else right away.
This is a very interesting idea. And obviously it wouldn’t be the first time a Sherlock Holmes was replaced, but I think unfortunately in the world of the Internet and canon and fandoms people aren’t as willing to accept the Bewitched Switch of characters as they used to be. Even something with a long tradition like the Doctor’s regeneration is met with rage anymore.
That being said, Hiddleston would make an amazing Great Detective.
