As reported by StarWars.com, JJ Abrams has announced the cast of the much anticipated 7th installment of Star Wars!
“We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.” said Abrams.
Star Wars Episode 7 is set to hit theaters December 2015.
The cast includes some familiar faces:
Andy Serkis:
Born Andy Serkis on April 20, 1964, in Ruislip Manor, West London, England.Best known for his role as Gollum in The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies. He has also added his unique character acting to Peter Jackson’s King Kong as well as developed his directing skills as Second Unit Director for The Hobbit.
Daisy Ridley:
Best known for her roles in Scrawl and Blue Season.
Adam Driver:
Best known for his roles for Inside Llewyn Davis, Frances Ha and Lincoln. He has also served as a United States Marine and runs the Arts in the Armed Forces foundation.
Oscar Isaac:
Born in Guatemala, mother, Maria, and father, Oscar Gonzalo Hernández-Cano. Best known for his roles in The Nativity Story, All About the Benjamins and other TV appearances.
Domhnall Gleeson:
Born in Dublin, Ireland. Known for his work in About Time, True Grit and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Nominated for a Tony award for his role in “The Lieutenant of Inishmore”.
Max von Sydow:
The legendary veteran actor was born in Lund, Sweden. Among stage and theater, the 6’4 Sydow has had movie roles that included, Conan the Barbarian, Flash Gordon, The Greatest Story Ever Told and the list goes on!
John Boyega:
Best known for his roles in Attack the Block, Imperial Dreams and My Murder.
Harrison Ford:
Returning to the role of the “scoundrel” Han Solo is renowned film star, Ford. The acting credits are numerous which include some of Hollywood’s all time movie greats. These movies include, The Indiana Jones series, Star Wars, Extraordinary Measures, K-19 The Widowmaker, Air Force One and more!
Carrie Fisher:
Born in Beverly Hills, USA to famed actors, Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher. Best known for her role in the Star Wars franchise (and the Slave Leia garb). Has appeared in several films over the years including Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, The Blues Brothers and more. She is also an accomplished writer and director.
Mark Hamill:
The American actor was made famous from Lucas’ Star Wars empire! Since episode 6, Hamill has gone on to become the voice of DC Comic’s “The Joker” in bother animated movies, TV and video games.
Anthony Daniels:
Born in Salisbury Wiltshire, England. Daniels returns to the role of the golden protocol droid, C3P0. He is one of 2 actors in the franchise that has appeared in all six films.
Peter Mayhew:
Returning to the role of the furry and lovable Wookie, Mayhew got his start in the 1977 movie Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger. He was then discovered and cast in episode 4 of Star Wars. Mayhew travels the globe attending Star Wars functions and conventions.
Kenny Baker:
Born in Birmingham England, Baker is the sassy counterpart to Daniel’s uptight role as the beeping and buzzing R2D2. Best known for his role in the Star Wars franchise, Baker can also be seen touring in his one man stand up comedy show, “Kenny Baker”.
