Good friend,
Where can I begin?
How can I thank you,
For the truths you’ve given me.
Good friend
You are always with me,
In the words that I forge,
And in the dreams I profess.
Good friend,
I will always be with you,
Through the nightmares of tomorrow,
And those joys yet to be.
Good friend,
We are as brothers,
Bound by life’s journeys,
And immortalized through time’s inevitable tests,
For we are one.
I think this short poem from Frodo to Sam is very impressive and amazing, because it reflects one of the more important themes around Tolkien’s novel and also the film that is friendship. Friendship it is represented as a weapon or symbol to confront the weapon that Sauron has that was fear, the fear que provoke on people if he obtain the ring. The main topic is friendship and before anything we have to mention what is a true friend, or in this like in this poem, a good friend. A true and a good friend is someone who has touched your heart and will stay there. Someone you care for, who cares for you. Someone you can do the stupidest things around and always be forgiven. Someone you’ll instantly remember in ten years because they are in your heart and not just in your mind. They have the ability to change you, even if they don’t. They will be etched in your memories forever, Sam and Frodo are excellent representatives of what is true friendship, this poem reflects all the love they have to each other and that they’ll be next to each other even on the worst moments.
