Networks are finally starting to realize that the pubic is hooked on comic books. With the success of the CW’s reimagined world of the Green Arrow and Fox gearing up for Gotham, NBC is jumping on the bandwagon with something gritty of its own: Constantine.
The Hellblazer comics from Vertigo were adapted into a feature film back in 2005 with Keanu Reeves, but very little from the books was recognizable on the screen. Thankfully, NBC looks like it has its head on straight and is giving fans the smart-mouthed British exorcist they’ve been wanting for years. Matt Ryan stars alongside Lucy Griffiths, Harold Perrineau, and Charles Halford. No premiere date has been announced, but Constantine will air on Friday nights at 10PM right after Grimm.
