Shadows on the river,
Pass before my eyes,
Like visions of tomorrow,
Few men realize.
Shadows on the river,
Drift on slowly by,
Like the words of an old man,
As the day begins to die.
Shadows on the river,
Recede into the haze,
Like captions on a billboard,
Trapped in some urban maze.
Shadows on the river,
Sink into my brain,
Like verses from a torn book,
I read to ease my pain.
Really enjoyed this piece, love the imagery, and the simplicity of the text. Yet there is depth to it. You seem to enjoy your writing, the emotion that you are trying to convey comes clear. Please keep it up, your work is appreciated.
