The Second Year at Hogwarts

For those who were interested in attending Hogwarts when I last reported on it but haven’t yet signed up, now is an even better time. This week, the Second Year of classes has started!  (Let’s hope there are no hidden Chambers waiting to be opened!)

For Second Year, students must enroll in the seven required courses they started in First Year (Astronomy, Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, History of Magic, Potions and Transfiguration) – but they also get to pick two electives from a very interesting list. The options are Alchemy, Ancient Runes, Care of Magical Creatures, Divination, and Magical Art. Of course, for those who just can’t decide, students are welcome to enroll in as many of the classes as they wish.

Fortunately for those of us who have fallen a bit behind, First Year assignments have no actual due dates so you can work at your own pace…. and it looks like Second Year is going to be the same way! So if you’ve got a few spare hours a week, or even less, sign up anyway. Eventually, if you keep plodding along, you’ll be able to graduate from Hogwarts – and really, who wouldn’t want to do that?

Robyn was a fan of fantasy before she was aware there were even other entertainment options. She’s been a writer just as long as she’s been a fantasy fan. In D&D she plays Wizard, she was sorted into Slytherin, she supports House Lannister, flirts with Garrus Vakarian, supports the Imperial Empire, and she has a favorite Doctor. She also has more degrees in Literature than most people tend to consider a good life choice, has somehow managed to get some of her poetry published, and gets to fail college students who decide they don’t have to turn in their assignments. She lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, with her husband, four cats, and huge personal library.
