First Marvel recruited Sherlock, and now the Doctor!
Marvel Studios announced today that David Tennant has joined the cast of the upcoming Netflix series “Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones,” a 13-episode series set to debut alongside “Marvel’s Daredevil” in late 2015.
“A.K.A. Jessica Jones” follows the life of one-time superhero turned private investigator Jessica Jones, played by Krysten Ritter. Jones, despite leaving the “super” life, finds herself getting caught up in the supernatural and superheroic goings-on in New York City.
Tennant will tackle the role of Zebediah Killgrave, also known as “the Purple Man” for he is entirely purple, a dark figure from Jessica’s past and an all-around really horrible person.
While he plays the brooding lead on the British television series “Broadchurch,” (and the American adaptation “Gracepoint”) this villainous role will be like nothing ever seen before by Tennant’s fans. With the ability to control people via chemical hormone and verbal suggestion, Purple Man is considered to be one of the most vile characters in the Marvel universe.
In other words, if you’re expecting to root for Tennant on “Jessica Jones,” I’m afraid I have some bad news.
