Morena Baccarin, star of Homeland, Firefly, Gotham, and V, has been cast opposite Ryan Reynolds in the new Deadpool film. Fox will be releasing the flick, which is slated to begin filming next month. Fox anticipates a February 2016 release.
Reynolds confirmed his involvement with the project after a screen test was leaked on the internet. Reynolds is a fan of the sarcastic superhero, who has surged in popularity in the last few months. Reynolds reprises the role after playing Deadpool in the 2009 film X-men Origins: Wolverine.
Deadpool is Wade Wilson, a man who suffered from cancer. While attempting to fight the illness with chemicals, he is endowed with super powers when something goes awry. Deadpool serves as a mercenary who fights crimes while shattering the fourth wall and addressing his readers. Called an “anti-hero,” Deadpool is impossible to kill due to healing powers. His sarcasm and misanthropy are often attributed to psychosis and mental instability derived from his continually regenerating brain cells.
