Details about The Force Awakens, and especially surrounding the cast, are still veiled in secrecy and misinformation, which allows for a slew of theories and speculations. And one of my favorites is the identity of Gwendoline Christie’s character. While I love the idea of her being “Kylo Ren”, the hooded figure in the forest with the cross-hilt saber, I’m seeing more and more support for the theory that she may actually be the new Chrome Trooper.
The rumor months ago was that she would play some sort of Imperial officer, and that’s still plausible. After all, real-life soldiers don’t stay in their body armor or dress blues 24/7. And given that the Chrome Trooper seems to be a one-of-a-kind breed of Stormtrooper (the cape alone suggests a special rank that regular enlisted don’t share), it’s entirely possible that Christie’s character may be a high-ranking officer within the Imperial military, donning the special armor when the need for her skills arises.
What do you think? Who could be in that shiny shiny armor?
