It’s been a while since I’ve updated you on the world of Ghostbusters, but seeing as it’s Halloween, and I’m currently wearing my Ghostbusters jumpsuit (perfect for handing out candy to trick-or-treaters), I figured it would be a good time to tell you about the stories you might have missed.
Lego Ghostbusters HQ
About a week ago, Canada’s Toys R Us website had a listing for a Lego Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ. It quickly disappeared, but not before going fairly viral. As for the set, it is a massive 4,634-piece set that features two floors with a laboratory, living quarters, the containment unit as well nine minifigs including Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz, Egon Spengler, Winston Zeddemore, Janine Melnitz, Dana Barrett, Louis Tully, Zombie Driver and Library Ghost, Slimer, Pink Ghost and Blue Ghost.
Cost: US$350.
Release: January 2016.

Ghostbusters visit patients in a Boston Hospital
The cast of the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot visited patients at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, dressed in full gear. It was a controversial visit, as some felt it was merely a promotional or publicity stunt after the backlash to the film. To me, it’s an opportunity to do something that the four of them couldn’t necessarily do while in plain clothes. If Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig and Leslie Jones walked into the same place, out of costume, it would be a nice thing to do, but most of the kids there wouldn’t really be able to tell them apart from the hospital staff. Wearing their jumpsuits and proton packs, though, they weren’t just four women. They were Ghostbusters. And to the kids and adults, that was all they needed to know. Brooke Hynes, VP of public affairs and communications at Tufts commented: “They were so kind to all the kids and their parents. They took their time in each room visiting children as young as a few months to teens. We cannot thank them enough for the happiness and excitement they created.”
As it turns out, the primary reason for the visit was much more simple: they were filming the new movie in Boston, and the kids at the hospital put a sign up in the windows that read “Who you gonna call?” When word got to the cast, they decided to check in on the kids.
New Books: Ghostbusters: The Ultimate Visual History and Tobin’s Spirit Guide
Released last week, Ghostbusters: The Ultimate Visual History is a fantastic look at the franchise so far, from the movies, to the animated series, collectibles, comics and video games. It features a forward from Dan Aykroyd and an introduction from director Ivan Reitman. I highly recommend picking one up. Definitely a great gift for the Ghostbuster fan in your life.
Late Spring of 2016 will bring Ghostbusters: Tobin’s Spirit Guide. Written by Erik Burnham (IDW’s excellent Ghostbusters comics) and illustrated by Kyle Hotz, this is an in-universe guide book of the ghosts that appear in the movies, cartoons, video games and comics, as documented by fictional writer J.H. Tobin.
